Mutiple Study Options for the Patent Bar Exam through ExamWare®

When you attend the PRG Patent Bar Review Classroom Course or you order the Video Course, you receive free access to ExamWare^®, PRG’s patent exam preparation software that is now available online.  In a previous post, we briefly looked at how the simulated exam environment with an assortment of questions, answers, feedback, and links to the patent statute, patent rules and the USPTO Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP) on ExamWare^® will help you prepare for the actual USPTO Patent Bar Exam.  Today, we’ll look at the variety of modes for study and exam preparation that are available through ExamWare^®:

• Simulated Exam Mode. Questions are randomly selected from either the entire database (according to frequency of subjects on past exams) or selected chapters of Patent Practice. The exam is timed, and the grade is posted immediately upon completion. When using the simulated exam mode, shorter questions may be excluded to increase difficulty.
• Question and Answer Study Mode. Questions are asked either sequentially or randomly (from any one or more chapters you select in Patent Practice) with instant feedback including the correct answer, explanation, or legal authority where applicable.
• Missed Question Mode. Learn from your mistakes. Review questions from the entire database or from selected chapters that you previously answered incorrectly.
• Performance History. Results are maintained for both the Simulated Exam and Question and Answer Study Modes, in bar graph and table form. View accuracy and time analyses in aggregate or by chapter of the Patent Practice treatise. Performance history of your study sessions is automatically stored.
• Optimum Viewing Choices. Click on the best font size option and resize the screen to your preference. Choose multiple windows to simultaneously display questions and answers.
• Online Legal Authorities. Browse pertinent sections of the statute, rules, MPEP, and PCT while working on questions or reviewing answer text. All legal authorities have been completely updated.

An Introduction to ExamWare®: Online Preparation for the US Patent Bar Exam

Advice from PRG Director Brad Buehler: “Help – My Exam Date is 2 Weeks Away and I’m Not Ready!!”

At the blog Passing the Patent Bar with PRG, Brad Buehler gives readers some tips on how they should prepare for the Patent Bar Exam if they’ve waited until the last minute:

Life definitely has a habit of getting away from us and no matter your plans and goals, sometimes things do go astray.  So what do you do if you are coming down to exam day and just haven’t been able to invest the time to properly prepare?  While I would never suggest waiting until the last minute, I know it does happen.  Here are some tips for your final weeks of cramming:

1. Take a full 100 question simulated exam ASAP!  This will allow you to get a feel for the exam and your timing.  Are you able to complete each 50-question section in the allotted 3 hours?  How comfortable are you with the material?  How did you score?  ExamWare™ will allow you to analyze your simulated exam results by topic, so you can see the topic distribution of the questions and your performance in each topic area.

Taking the Patent Bar Exam, and Passing!

Chris Casson of Passing the Patent Bar with PRG took the Patent Bar Exam, and he passed!  How did PRG help Chris pass the Exam?

I won’t say it’s not possible to pass the Patent Bar on the first try without the help of PRG, but I’m not sure I could have done it without everything they offer.  Starting with the excellent Patent Bar Review course taught by Paul Gardner, and continuing with the videos, which I used to review some important lectures, and then, most of all, the ExamWare™ questions.

Final Countdown to the Patent Bar Exam

Chris from Passing the Patent Bar with PRG only has a few days left before he takes the Patent Bar Exam!  In his newest blog post, he tells the readers about his feelings before the big day:

The countdown to the test continues, and I don’t feel the same way about it from one minute to the next.  I am eager to get it over with and repossess my evenings and weekends, but no matter how prepared I actually am, I will be nervous about whether or not I can pass the test.  I often dread logging on to ExamWare™ to answer practice questions in the evenings, but once I do, I sort of actually enjoy the rhythm of reading and answering the questions (so long as I’m answering a large majority of the questions correctly).
